It’s the time of year again when work and student life can become quite overwhelming and exhausting, and all of us become in need of an extra boost to help get us through. Today we’re talking about ways to help boost your system, as well as rest and recharge.
As we move into autumn and winter, our immune systems can be in need of some love, to help our bodies function properly to support our minds. We recommend:
- B12 - If you’re vegan or vegetarian, you’re highly likely to be deficient in B12, as this mainly comes from meat and dairy. Even a small deficiency of B12 can lead to fatigue, muscle weakness, pins and needles, depression and confusion. B12 can help with energy levels, general clarity of mind, and muscular issues, making it a great area to target if you think you may be deficient in B12.
- Vitamin D - it is said that in the UK most of the population is deficient in vitamin D. Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium, helps elevate energy levels and can lower blood pressure.
- Iron - Again, if you are vegan or vegetarian, you may be lacking iron, which can help to boost energy levels, and is especially essential during menstruation. Whilst it is important that we reach and maintain our daily recommended intake of iron, it can be bad for your health if you exceed this dose, and can have reverse effects.
- Vitamin B5 - this is essential for the production of red blood cells, as well as stress related hormones produced in glands near the kidneys. B5 can help with boosting energy levels and reduce stress.
If you’re unsure of what supplements to take, call or pop into either of our stores where our staff will be more than happy to help.
Here at Archie’s we’re huge lovers and believers in essential oils. Some of the oils we recommend for boosting energy or relaxing are:
You can mix some of these together to find the combination that works well for you or use them individually, use then in a diffuser or put some drops onto some tissue.
